In February, we welcomed our fifth beautiful child, Anna Grace. 4 weeks later, our oldest child had a horrible accident/injury that involved nearly a week in the hospital, 2 surgeries, physical therapy and recovery. Then we completed several remodel projects and put the house on the market. Trying to sell a house with 5 young children in it is nothing short of insanity. And despite showing our home to hundreds of people and lowering the price dramatically, we didn’t receive a single offer.

A certain level of fatigue was starting to settle in that I recognized. Three minutes and a pregnancy test later, we found out that we would be meeting baby #6 in the spring. Then we almost lost the baby, I wound up on bedrest, we took the house off the market realizing I wouldn’t be moving any time soon, and now we are starting over. We have no plan.

And what have I learned?

Sometimes we make goals and plans for ourselves that we feel are so right, and God answers with either “No” or “Not right now”. And I need to be in a place where I am flexible enough to see that, accept it, and thrive where I am despite being disappointed that my ideas will not pan out right now. I am a focused, dedicated woman who always needs a plan. God is clearly showing me that He wants me to trust His plan, even though I have no idea what it is, and just take one day at a time…

 I know He always sees the big picture that I cannot, and is orchestrating my life in such a way that it all works together for His glory, if I am willing to follow His lead.
